Professional firefighters around the country have established a Trust Fund for the widow and three children of their deceased colleague David Balfour. David was tragically killed in the line of duty as a result of protecting the community in the fires that have occurred in Victoria.

David’s death has left an indelible mark on the very fabric of the larger firefighting community. David’s death will be felt for many years to come.  However, it is incumbent upon all of us within the firefighting family to ensure that David’s family is left with adequate protection and resources now that David has passed.

In this context the Balfour Family Trust has been established.  Anyone who wishes to make a donation to the Balfour Family Trust can do so by carrying out the following instructions:

Please ensure people use the reference BALFOUR or 139461 when depositing funds.

Most people have a ‘customer reference line’ or ‘lodgement reference’ where they can place this information when transferring funds to another account via the internet.  For ease of identification donations via EFT are encouraged.

Donations will also be accepted at the Public Trustee Office.  The location of the Office is ground floor ACTEW House, Canberra City.

Other than this, donations may be made at any branch of the Commonwealth Bank. If depositing funds, please ensure that they include the reference details above i.e. BALFOUR or 139461.

Please note David’s Superannuation payout from the fire service as a result of his death will not be enough to support David’s widow and 3 young Children.
